The Siena Hotel Spa Casino, the latest boutique hotel in the United States, opens on July 31 on the banks of the Truckee River in Reno, Nevada.

The $70 million, 214-room hotel features a unique combination of services and amenities, including a full-service day spa, high-energy 24-hour casino, eclectic art, riverside fine dining, and unique food and wine experiences.

Like other boutique hotels, Sienna has an underlying commitment with an exceptional finish to comfort, service, and value. The 214 stylishly appointed rooms and suites have views of the river or panoramic view, including the Floor Day Novilly, an all-suite floor with butler service. Sienna features a comfortable room interior with plush down blankets, Egyptian cotton linen, gowns, coffee makers, and state-of-the-art amenities. High-speed internet access, web TV, data line, a safe with laptop and phone chargers, and a two-line speakerphone. Hotel service also includes daily newspaper delivery and turndown services.

 Ocean Club Resort and Michael Jordan on Paradise Island in the Bahamas hosted the star-studded arena for the 1st Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational (MJCI) from January 11-14, 2001.

The participants included world-class players from across sports, including Charles Barkley, John Elway, Wayne Gretzky, Roger Clemens, and Julius Erving. These players were challenged by famous golfers, such as Stephen Baldwin, Michael Bolton, Don Cheadle, Janet Jones, and Aidan Quinn.

MJCI visitors had a fun festive weekend at the Paradise Island resorts of Ocean Club and Atlantis. The entertainment highlight of the weekend was Jill Scott's soulful Saturday night performance, a three-time Grammy winner. A total of 36 celebrity golfers from the sports and entertainment worlds and amateur participants, including representatives from Bahamian companies and communities competing in two separate events, participated in the MJCI. The event consisted of two days of Celebrity-Am, paired with one celebrity and three amateurs, and two days of ̈¿½ Celebrity Pairs."

Players competed for wallets that totaled $200,000. Up to $500,000 will be given to charities, including $300,000 in charitable donations for Ronald McDonald House in North Carolina and the local Bahamas Cancer Society.

NBC-TV will air a fun and charitable golf event for four days from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 20, 2001. MJCI's sponsors include Gatorade, Palm, Jordan Brand, and Ultimate Vid.
